Recipe: Cauliflower Steak
With the arrival spring, we’ve been thinking more about veggie dishes. We found a nice recipe in Bon Appétit for a hearty vegetarian dish: Cauliflower Steak and we wanted to share it. We found this dish to be quite delicious when we tested it in our kitchen. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Meet Brendan Bloom!
Many regular visitors to the cafe already know Brendan Bloom, but for those who don’t, here is a little more about Brendan in his own words…One of my earliest memories as a child was the smell of fresh baked goods emanating from our family kitchen. My parents, new business owners, were hard at work tinkering with recipes for cakes, muffins, and scones that were made from scratch each day. I had the best job as a child – tasting all of the amazing items that were coming out of the oven.
Fast forward to today and ironically I still have the best job in the world, working with an inspiring group of professionals to create handcrafted, delicious food and provide the most gracious service money can buy. I have had the good fortune to travel abroad and live throughout the country including San Francisco, Boston, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Chile, and Ecuador. Although I love the diversity of flavors from abroad, America is the place where it all comes together…an amazing melting pot of food cooked with outstanding domestic ingredients and a touch of American ingenuity. It was only natural that my life’s path would lead me back to the thing I love and obsess about most: food!
After graduating from Colby College, I dabbled in law and in sales. But, when the opportunity presented itself to rejoin La Cuisine in 2006, those childhood memories all came flooding back and in 2015, I was able to buy La Cuisine from my parents. We are now once again a family run business with the addition of my wife and business partner, Christina Holmes. When I am not working I love to surf, compete in triathlons, travel, eat, and most importantly spend time with my two little boys Finn and Ryder. Life is a journey, enjoy it with a full belly!
